Building Automation Building Automation

Today's state-of-the-art Building Management System (BMS) provides maintenance personnel and operators with an easy way to navigate and control key operating parameters in multiple facilities. Now control and manage all aspects of a small or large building complex or campus. Use a common Web-enabled user interface to integrate facilities such as HVAC, lighting, energy, security, fire and elevators. CSWorks provides a method for creating highly customized building management systems and offers many features for handling and recording of all the operator actions, system events and alarms.

BACnet protocol support
BACnet is a Data Communication Protocol for Building Automation and Control Networks. Developed under the auspices of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BACnet is an American national standard, a European standard, a national standard in more than 30 countries, and an ISO global standard.

CSWorks installation package includes a sample that demonstrates how a CSWorks-based solution can be integrated with a room thermostat that supports BACnet protocol.

Zero-administration thin client
CSWorks-powered client applications run on Windows and Mac platforms using Microsoft Silverlight as runtime engine. Increase ROI, reduce client software maintenance cost by using cross-platform and cross-browser client. With CSWorks web client, end users no longer need to install proprietary software, licenses and individual HMI screens for each operator computer. Files and licensing are server-based for trouble-free maintenance and deployment.
Supervise multiple facilities from multiple different locations
CSWorks-powered solutions enable the monitoring and control of multiple facilities with one software system. Not only can you monitor and access individual pieces of HVAC equipment, but you can control entire buildings as well. CSWorks is easy to use with local area networks, intranets and the Internet, while providing full security. Find more about CSWorks distributed architecture in the Distributed Architecture section.

Open architecture
CSWorks’ open architecture enables system integrators and application engineers to mix-and-match products from different suppliers to develop solutions that a lot more flexible and powerful than those restricted to a single vendor's product offering. Open standards such as BACnet, OPC (OLE for Process Control), SQL, WCF (Windows Communication Foundation), SOAP, HTTP protect your automation investment from manufacturers' proprietary technology obsolescence that can come with changes in the company structure, technical requirements or finances. You can find more about CSWorks architecture in the Architecture Basics section.
Development environment: Microsoft Visual Studio
CSWorks components can be integrated into Microsoft Visual Studio design environment. Application engineers can take advantage of the development tool with a proven track record to create user applications with eye-catching graphics and extremely rich functionality without learning yet another scripting language or proprietary object model. Just use C# or VB.NET to create CSWorks applications running with Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in. See our educational video about creating your first CSWorks application.

HVAC symbol library
CSWorks comes with a free symbol library for building automation industry that includes a number of scalable HVAC visual elements like cchillers, heaters, dampers, sensors, fans - all basic components you need to design a professionally looking animated BAS solution. Highly customizable Alarming subsystem
CSWorks alarming can be configured to scale out and to provide redundancy. Alarm history can be saved in the database of your choice, giving you a notable degree of flexibility to incorporate analysis tools of your choice. Operators work with Alarm Summary controls that can be configured individually for every user. When acknowledging an alarm, users can enter a comment explaining the alarm for inclusion as part of the permanent record.
Data archiving
CSWorks saves historical data to industry standard databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, mySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL. Using such standard corporate databases provides long-term maintenance, reporting and retrieval throughout the retention period.
Data trending
Building monitoring data collected from any data source can be quickly and easily visualized in CSWorks Trend panel. Information from different data sources can be merged and viewed on a single chart. Operators can easily export live and historical data from charts to spreadsheet files (watch the educational video).
User access management
Designed with security in mind, CSWorks operates on top of a number of standard, secure communication protocols that guarantee data privacy and integrity. CSWorks-powered solution can be integrated with existing user access management infrastructure. Access to specific screens and features can be restricted on a per-user basis. Server-side security checks prevent unauthenticated users from accessing the system, protecting the solution from sophisticated hacker attacks.
